This training is designed to provide Des Moines area residents with the skills and tools to effectively network with each other, learn how to communicate with government, and to promote your effectiveness as a community leader. You can take one or two courses or earn a Neighborhood Resident Leadership Certificate by completing all six core leadership courses, plus electives. Community Leader Development
To have healthy, vibrant communities, it's important for a variety of people to be involved. If you'd like to be more involved in your community but are hesitant because you don't think you have the necessary skills, then this course is for you. It is designed to provide attendees with the skills and tools to effectively participate in community leadership opportunities. You will learn new skills, gain confidence in you leadership skills and understand what it takes to be a community leader. Topics include effective communication, negotiation skills, interaction style analysis, conflict management, handling change, and board member development.
